TakingITGlobal (TIG) is seeking an Research Analyst to perform analysis of an online survey regarding the impact of an online community for youth who want to make a difference. This position is ideal for a Masters student with an interest in combining this research as part of a Masters Thesis.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Co-designing the online survey questionnaire, user study and other evaluation tools in order to solicit relevant information that will help TakingITGlobal better understand the impact of its website and improve its features
• Supporting the development and implementation of a research plan with several components including conducting an online survey, online focus groups, comparative analysis, user studies and analysis of website metrics
• Working within a research team to conduct an analysis and evaluation of the takingitglobal.org online community
• Conduct an in-depth assessment of website usage based on website hits, most popular content and other website statistics
Qualifications
• Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research
• Experience with survey design and data analysis
• Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis in social sciences
• Experience with data analysis on research projects
• Comfortable with using data analysis programs including SPSS
• Experience with internet cultural and online communities
• Strong written and oral communications skills
• Interest in youth issues and international development
• Advanced degree in information sciences or social studies
• Ability to work in a fast paced office environment, managing multiple shifting priorities with strong time-management skills.
Application Process
This position is offered on an initial 4 month basis with the possibility of renewal. The candidate should be available to start January 11, 2010 and work 16 hours per week. The successful candidate may request a travel stipend. This position has a flexible work location – occasional in-office meetings are optional but generally the position would be ideal for candidates outside the Greater Toronto Area or anywhere around the globe.
