About About

TakingITGlobal (TIG) is an online social network for positive change – a community of youth who want to find inspiration, access information, get involved, and make an impact in their local and global communities. Available in twelve languages, the award-winning tigweb.org has reached 10 million young people worldwide since its launch in 2000, and currently has a dedicated membership of over 250,000 individuals in over 200 countries.

As TIG's vibrant global community has evolved, educators inspired by its young members have sought to integrate its resources and focus on action-based learning into their teaching. This was made easier beginning in 2006, with the launch of the TakingITGlobal for Educators (TIGed) program, which consists of: 1) An online community of globally minded educators all over the world; 2) a database of educational resources; and 3) virtual classroom spaces that teachers create, moderate, and control to fit the needs of their students and objectives of their curriculum.

The TIGed Activities Database assistant will find, upload and approve interactive and education activities onto the TIGed Activities Database.

Tasks:
• Identify organizations with freely available, digital activities, games, and lesson plans that have a connection to global issues. Contact these organizations to inform them of the opportunity to reach a broader audience through the TIGed Activities Database. Build and maintain a spreadsheet of the organizations identified, indicated when and how they were contacted and with what outcomes
• Provide support to organizations that have agreed to add their resources to the database and add resources on behalf of organizations that are unable to do the data entry themselves.
• Review all existing contributions to the database in order to identify those requiring additional information or editing and make amendments to the extent possible.
• Potentially also contribute to the translation of database content into French.

• Comfortable with, and adept at using, computers (word processing, email, internet)
• Goal oriented and able to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Attention to detail
• Interest in the field of education, especially curriculum development
