Youth Challenge International (YCI) is recruiting a team of five Youth Ambassadors between the ages of 18 and 35 with diverse skills, experiences and backgrounds for a six-week focused youth development project in Tanzania from December 10 to January 21, 2013.

This exciting opportunity will include a pre-project distance-learning program, followed by an intensive six-week placement in Zanzibar, Tanzania. While in Tanzania, you will work with YCI’s partners, the Zanzibar Youth Forum (ZYF) and the Labayka Development Fund, to further the reach and relevance of their youth development programs.

Key Project Activities May Include:

• Organize and implement an environmental education campaign to build “eco-preneurship” opportunities for youth
• Implement community eco-tourism plan in Nungwi
• Coordinate peer educator support, life skills and good governance training
• Develop inclusive youth leadership and active citizenship activities in conjunction with constitutional reform activities
• Work to develop income-generation activities with vulnerable populations in Stonetown

Recommended Skills and Experience:

• Background in development, business or the humanities
• Knowledge of small business development, entrepreneurship and/or “eco-preneurship”
• Knowledge of leadership issues as they relate to youth, especially female youth
• Experience in designing, developing and implementing awareness and/or educational campaigns
• Knowledge of special event planning and delivery, including logistics, publicity and scheduling
• Experience in facilitation and/or community mobilization
• Proven effectiveness in cross-cultural settings
• Prior overseas experience an asset
