The Canadian Red Cross’ Humanitarian Issues Promotions Program is recruiting for Resource Leaders for the 2012 Global Issues Symposium for Youth.
This is an amazing volunteer position open to students and young professionals.
Resource Leaders meet monthly to help plan and prepare the annual Global Issues Symposium for Youth.
What kind of humanitarian issues are covered at this symposium?
This year we are providing training on the following topics:
• Landmines, cluster bombs & weapons control
• International humanitarian law
• Justice & the Responsibility to Protect
• Refugees
• HIV/AIDS
• Food Security
• Youth Empowerment
What else will I do?
You will develop event planning, leadership, facilitation, media relations, child abuse prevention and communication skills. Prior to the event your main role will be to research, practice facilitate, do readings and participate in committee work to help secure donations and promote the event. In addition to assisting with the preparations for the event, Resource Leaders facilitate all activities at the event and lead a cabin of youth participants (15-18 years old).
