About About

Want to spend your summer experiencing a new culture? Looking for an opportunity to develop new skills and gain new experience?

ICYE UK is looking for volunteers to teach English or French in Morocco! Volunteers will have the unique opportunity to work and live side-by-side with Moroccans, experiencing the culture from the inside while sharing their enthusiasm, time and skills with young people. The English classes are aimed at Moroccan youth aged 14 – 20 whilst the French lessons are taught to younger students, normally aged 8 to 12+. The courses are designed to give young people from moderate or lower income backgrounds the opportunity to learn or improve their language skills during their summer holidays.

About ICYE UK
ICYE UK is a unique user-led charity that works towards personal, social and community development. ICYE UK is a member of the International ICYE Federation, a worldwide federation of independent local organisations with over 60 years of inter-cultural experience and a head office based in Berlin. The summer teaching programme is run in co-operation with CSM, Chantiers Sociaux Marocains, a Moroccan NGO and a partner member of the ICYE Federation.

About you
Previous teaching experience is not required but volunteers need to be independent, flexible and able to work without direct supervision or support – this includes designing your own lesson plans.

Where and when
If you wish to participate you must be available for the duration of either 7th – 31st July OR 7th August – 31st August. Volunteers will live and work in Rabat, Kenitra or Casablanca.

Costs
Individuals wishing to volunteer abroad are asked to raise a minimum amount to cover expenses. The fee for the Morocco programme is £800 and this covers:
• Return flights from the UK
• Full travel insurance
• Accommodation and daily meals
• Pre-departure training and support
• On-arrival airport pick-up, orientation and on-going support,
• National and international administration costs.

How to apply:
If you are interested in the Summer Programme please email Emma Howard at short-term@icye.org.uk for further details about the programme and to arrange an informal interview. Spaces on the programme are limited so you are advised to get in touch as soon as possible!

Not available for these dates but still keen to volunteer? Email Emma at short-term@icye.org.uk for information about our short–term volunteer projects in Asia, Latin America, Africa and Europe.
